I was fortunate enough to stumble across this really interesting and useful tutorial for making your own “animated signature” for Wordpress. It’s a rather trendy little animated GIF which looks as if you’re signing each post in your own handwriting - and it’s really eye catching!

In order to follow this tutorial you’re going to need a copy of Photoshop (Mike recommends CS2, but you could follow it even with something simple like Photoshop Elements, so long as you’re comfortable using the program.) Obviously, the more work you put into this, the better your results will be - and it’s going to require a fair bit of patience. But the results are really quite good, and it looks very convincing once it’s done.

Well enough of my yammering on. Go check out Mike’s Animated signature for Wordpress Tutorial!

Yes, I AM recovering my posts - slowly…

For anyone who’s just dropping in and going “Hey, where did all the posts go?” - well, they’re coming back, slowly, after a very ugly server incident. I found a way to get the content back and involves manually going, finding the old posts in Google cache, and then re-entering them directly into the database.

Sound like fun to you? Yeah, me neither. But hey, at least I can get them. So… that’s what I’m going to be doing. All. Day.

You can smack me for not having an offsite backup as often as you like (although life seems to be doing that QUITE effectively right now.)

The Wordpress plugin competition

Yup, you read right - another Wordpress Plugin competition has begun! Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place (rather than the old category-based system). I love these comeptitions because not only do they spice up my summer, but they trigger some amazing development. All plugins will be GPL licensed and available for download through the official Wordpress Plugin Competition Blog.

I can’t wait to see what competitors come up with! Last year’s winners were outstanding, including:
